1. Several years ago whilst in Bodnant Gardens in the Conwy Valley I walked around a corner and was confronted with this vista. I photographed it to capture the relationship between the various elements and this and my memories of the day inspired the painting.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

2. This is the view from a walk I have down hundreds of times. The house at the bottom of the picture is no longer visible and has been reproduced from photographs\/memories. Whilst the view is still predominately the same there are differences which we so often miss. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

3. I often get up in the morning and stare at this view, especially the sky which continually alters\/shifts\/morphs as conditions change over the mountains. This picture encapsulates what I experienced one day whilst contemplating the view over to LLanfairfechan \/Penmaenmawr. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

4. Looking up along the line of the deer park wall I was struck by the farm complex nestling under the escarpment and the colours of buildings contrasted by the organic greens on the slopes\/fields. As is so often the case there have been subtle changes to this view as a few years ago the main building was altered. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

5. This picture was inspired by an old monochrome photograph I bought from Gareth post. Whilst there have hardly been any changes subtle differences are evident. I have long wondered how individuals perceive colour. Is my blue the same as others or is it what I would call red?  This is reflected in the colours used. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

6. Years ago whilst touring Corsia we walked up the Restonica and came upon this vista. As I stood upon a rocky outcrop Jane took a photograph of me apparently impersonating Casper David Fredrick\u2019s The Wander above the Mists. It is an image that captured the moment and I couldn\u2019t help but reinterpret it as a painting. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

7. Again inspired by a photograph in this case taken in the 1950s this picture I hope captures the long hot summers of our childish memories and the relative innocence, peace and prosperity of the early years after the war. I deliberately chose not to paint any facial details as this is not intended as a portrait of the actual sitters. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
